Celebrate a funky family-friendly Easter egg hunt at Kapwa Gardens! Expect a petting zoo, activities for the young and young at heart among the vibrancy of our urban garden oasis.

Dye Hard provides a chance for families and community members to to enjoy the beauty of Kapwa Gardens.

Donning your best tie dye or psychedelic threads is encouraged!

Event Registration

Tickets for Dye Hard are FREE but we are accepting sliding scale donations. Your donations will help us continue to host our future events and keep our garden growing.

We invite you and your loved ones to connect with nature, meet our friendly animals, and create lasting memories. While we strive to keep this enriching experience accessible to all, we kindly suggest a donation of $5 per participant. Thank you for your contribution and for being part of our community!

Featuring a plethora of animals for the kids to pet and play with (Bunnies included!)

Raising Ancestors is an education platform for kids and their caregivers offering workshops and safe spaces through the lens of decolonization, collective liberation and generational healing. All are welcome, Filipinx and BIPOC experiences centered. We are offering a summer day camp program for families exploring how to raise liberated kids in community along with parent education support.

Divine in i: The Divine Coloring Book Movement and Wellness Workshop for Youth

Your Young Divine (focused on ages 6 to 10, but not limited to) will get to color and explore movement inspired by one of The Divines from The Divine Coloring Book. This is an intercultural coloring and movement wellness workshop that creates space for youth to tap into their Divine Spirit within and remember our interconnection to the collective Divine energy in ALL things. Rooted in cultural exploration through one of the four elements; air, earth, fire and water, the class incorporates coloring, storytelling, creative movement, live music, a mindfulness activity and a whole ‘lota LOVE.

Sacred Skin Adornments (1:30p - 3:30p)
Hosted by Jenn Ban

Jenn Ban (she/they) is a Multidisciplinary Artist, Certified Usui Reiki Master, Youth Teacher, Tattoo Artist, and community organizer. They are offering an extension of Sacred Skin Adornments, Reiki infused tattoos, for kids as non-permanent body art on arms and hands using non-toxic glitter pens. *Parents, don't worry it's washable! Kids can choose from a selection of exclusive designs to Dye-Hard: Easter event, Jenn will facilitate a quick grounding exercise as they apply the body art. ~5mins per design.

celebrate the spirit of Easter at Kapwa Gardens!

Bring the whole family out for a day filled with easter egg hunt activities for the little ones to enjoy. Each easter egg is hand painted by the seniors citizens of SOMA Pilipinas with the help of the Bayanihan Equity Center. Plus photo booth opportunities for the whole family.

All of these activities are set in a beautiful technicolor urban oasis of color and lush plants.

The Divine Coloring Book

ABOUT THE DIVINE

The Divine is a multicultural 100-page hardcover coloring book for people of all ages (especially the child in all of us) inspired by folklore and spirituality from the Philippines (Diwatas), Haiti (Lwas of Vodou) and Brazil (Orixás of Candomble and deities of the Indigenous Brazilian Tupi Tribe). Thirteen divinities from each culture are represented, along with the folklore and symbolism associated with each of the divinities. Included throughout the book are inspirational quotes, mindfulness activities for children, and poetry featuring Eniafe Isis Adewale of All Her Words, Aimee Amparo, and Haitian songs by Daniel “Brav” Brevil. 40 full-page illustrations.

MEET TINE

Christine Joy Amagan Ferrer (AKA Tine) is the the creatress behind Eyes Opened (EO), eomvmnt.org. And the creator, author and designer of The Divine Coloring Book. #thedivinecoloringbook #tinejoyAF

Tine is a multidisciplinary creative soul from San Francisco. A jack of all trades, and a master of nothing but herself. She is a sacred wellness cultural arts pracitioner. Rooted in Philippine, Haitian and Afro-Brazilian folkloric music and dance. Spirituality, folklore, indigenous art forms and rhythms of the diaspora and Spirit ground her. 

By day, she has been empowering youth through movement arts for over a decade. By night, she is also a freelance designer and media producer. She delivers solutions for community organizations and individuals acting for the greater good. Through visual, written and embodied storytelling, she uses movement, media and design to help others tell their stories.
